The Subject
In 1987, the Grumman F-14A received its first major upgrade in the form of the F-14A+. The original TF30 engines were replaced with the F110, which provided a significant increase in performance, range and reliability. With these new engines, the F-14A+ could take off from the carrier deck without afterburner. The other major upgrade was internal, with the installation of the ALR-67 Radar Homing and Warning (RHAW) system.

Wave 1/72 AFC-01H Legioss ETA

Somewhat out of the left field but a welcome one as Genesis Climber Mospeada is one of my favorite anime of all time. On a sidenote, this anime was adapted into the last third of the American series, Robotech.

Anyway, being 1/72 I think it’s going to be pretty small but it looks to be very detailed. I hope Wave will release Thread, the bigger support mecha.

WE-Tech AK74UN Gas Blowback Rifle

DAMN… this looks good. If they fixed the hop-up/accuracy issues that their earlier guns suffered from, it’ll be so cool to skirmish with.

Still waiting for their MP5 since VFC’s MP5 doesn’t stop firing (not without modifications) after the last round. Pity.

Day 7: Hong Kong

Last day. End of the road. We spent the morning relaxing the hotel waiting for the bus to take us to the airport so the kids ended up just running around the hotel.

All in all, a very tiring trip but more importantly, the kids did enjoy themselves. Mrs Rocket Punch agrees with me that we need another vacation after this one. Hahahaha…

I also want a new camera bag. One that will fit my 70-200 lens attached to my camera (a Canon EOS 60D). I also want a constant f2.8 walkaround lens! Guess it’s shopping time! :D

Day 6: Hong Kong (Disneyland!)

The day started sunny and hot (easily 35 degrees with 80% humidity) but today we’re visiting Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth!

Now all this time I’ve been lugging my big and heavy Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II USM Lens but I haven’t been using it much. After the visit to Disneyland though, I’m glad I brought it along. I’ll just let the pictures do the talking.

Day 5: Hong Kong

Today was spent hitting all the standard tourist spots. And DAMN, was Hong Kong crowded. Indonesians were everywhere! :P

First up, Avenue of the Stars. I have to say it’s dinkier than when I went there a couple of years ago. The names scribed to the hand and foot prints have seen better days. Wonder why they didn’t fix the paint for the engraved names.

The skyline was smoggy so I didn’t get any decent shots but lucky for me, a Chinese Junk sailed by! And what’s a Hong Kong photo without this iconic boat?

Day 4: Hong Kong

Another quick ferry ride over to Hong Kong and most toy geeks will know that Hong Kong is basically toy heaven. Unfortunately, they put us up in Tsuen Wan, which except for Disneyland, is all the way to the west. It’s 10 stops away from Tsim Tsa Tsui. Sigh.

Day 3: Macau

Next stop, Macau! Yep. By ferry. Quite a pleasant ride too. But then, I have a pair of decent sea legs.
