WIP : Academy 1/72 T-50I Golden Eagle Pt.3 – Painting

I managed to carefully re-attach the main landing gear with CA glue.

Painting begins with a base coat of black and a marble coat of white.

TNI-AU T-50s are painted in a two-tone scheme of FS36314 (a light gray) and FS34148 (a medium greenish gray). As of 2025, only the MRP line offers FS34148 as a lacquer paint which isn’t an option for me so I’d have to mix this color.

For FS36314, I went with H334 Aqueous Barley Grey painted in light coats so the marbling still shows.

I then used blutack to mask out the demarcation lines. The strips of masking tape are for indication purposes.

Now for the greenish gray color. Using the high tech method of eyeball 2.0 (since I’ve already had cataracts surgery on mine) and photos for reference, I mixed various colors in the ratio stated above.

This mix was also sprayed in light coats. I didn’t like the result though: it’s too green.

So I added one more part of white and I think I got it quite close enough.

And then of course I dropped the kit on its landing gear and managed to break it again. And as an added bonus, the tire also broke off.

After a short session of cussing and many many attempts with various methods, I finally managed to re-attach the landing gear with epoxy glue.
